// Frickin’ Yum: The Donut Cooperative //

^ look at that. LOOK AT IT. Frickin’ yum!

This morning Alex and I biked over to a place called The Donut Cooperative for breakfast and it was SO GOOD. I got an almond cake donut and Alex got an OREO DONUT. MMM. The iced coffee was bomb, too.

Bonus: they make different flavors every day. Some crazier-sounding flavors: raspberry rose pistachio, malibu barbie, and orange dreamsicle. Drool.

Do as we did and check this place out. It’s cheap and delicious and has crazy-flavored DONUTS. What more can you really ask for?

// Do you like secrets?//

…Duh, of course you do. Secrets are fun and awesome. Everyone likes being in on a secret. And now you are: The Super Secret St. Paul Ice Cream Extravaganza!

It’s actually the University of Minnesota’s Dairy salesroom on the St. Paul campus. It’s technically not super secret, because anyone can look it up and find it. But it took me a year of attending the school to learn about it, and most people I tell about it have never heard of it.  Yep, it’s there, and it’s worth making plans over.

They have a bunch of cheeses and frozen yogurt, but all I care about is the homemade ice cream available in half gallons and pints.  A sampling of the flavor insanity: Apple Pie Crunch, Blueberry Cheesecake, Coffee Cappuccino Chip, Green Tea, Mango Tango, Peppermint Chip, Pumpkin, Rocky Road Explosion, and Vanilla Fudge Ripple. Seriously. SO GOOD. The best thing is going with a few friends and all getting different crazy flavors and sharing all of them. Ice Cream Insanity, friends. Real Talk. Did I mention that pints are only $3?

To add to the intrigue, it’s only open on Wednesdays from 3-5pm, and you never know for sure what flavors are going to be there. It’s first-come, first-serve, so get your butt over there at 2:45 for first dibs.

Dairy Food Products Salesroom
Open to the public on Wednesdays from 3-5 p.m.

// Favorite Place: Isles Bun & Coffee//

Two words: CINNAMON. BUNS.

Other important words: ENDLESS. FROSTING.

Seriously. In addition to having good coffee (and almond milk as a menu option, which is hard to find), my new favorite breakfast stop has crazy, delicious, huge, perfect cinnamon rolls and a tub of frosting on the cream and sugar counter. Just in case the huge glob that they put on for you wasn’t enough (duh it wasn’t).

The shop itself is tiny, and the food prep area is wide open behind the counter, so you can watch them make all the goodies if you decide to sit inside. But you shouldn’t, because there are cute tables outside.

We chose to walk a few blocks down to Lake of the Isles, where we enjoyed our spoils on a park bench.  All the people on their morning jogs stared us down enviously. We laughed.

Bonus: Lakeside Morning Cinnamon Bun Soundtrack.
