Glam Doll Donuts' GRAND OPENING
There’s a new donut shop in town, AND THANK THE LAWD FOR THAT. Beth and I went into a deep depression for many weeks when the Donut Cooperative closed. Better than just a donut shop though, Glam Doll Donuts will be open super late (until 3am) on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights, AND they will have a photo booth in the store. BOOM.         (click the flyer for more info) Glam Doll...

TRANSMISSION @ The Varsity
Transmission is BOWIE themed tonight at the Varsity Theater. Hell yeah! The perfect excuse for Ziggy Stardust makeup when it’s not even Halloween.  Transmission is a dance night hosted by Jake Rudh featuring new wave, indie rock, Brit pop, garage, punk, synth, and pretty much anything else that’s good from the 80’s and 90’s. Yep, it’s the best dance music ever.  ...

Vaski presents SKYLINE @ Blarney (Dinkytown)
Vaski, the world-touring dubstep producer from right here in the Twin Cities, is playing a FREE show at Blarney in Dinkytown this Saturday. If there was ever a time to venture into the usually bro/sorority girl-heavy bar, it is this night. Blarney isn’t going to know what hit it. Not into dubstep? Don’t worry, Vaski isn’t all about the wubwubwub and the opening DJs will bring...

UPDATE: Caroline Smith leaves folk for r&b
I have a correction to make. I wrote yesterday that Caroline Smith’s show at The Cedar would be a quiet night of indie folk music. I wasn’t alone in this assumption; judging by the crowd of young to middle-aged hipsters, we all thought we were in for a night of Caroline doing her usual singer-songwriter thing. You know, strumming multiple guitars, occasionally plucking the ukelele,...

Caroline Smith and the Good Night Sleeps @ The...
Caroline Smith and the Good Night Sleeps are sweet and folky, perfect for a low-key show at the Cedar. But apparently it’s not that low-key, because they’re running out of tickets. There won’t be any available at the door, so if you want to go you’ll have to grab some online here. All Ages, 7:30pm, $15, Thursday January 10 @ The Cedar, 416 Cedar Ave S  - Beth

The Best Moments in Minneapolis of 2012
2012 was a great year to be in Minneapolis. A ton of music was played, a bunch of festivals, block parties, and movie screenings happened, and in general, great fun was had. It’s hard to pick “the best” moments of such an amazing year, but we tried, and each picked three of our favorite Minneapolis moments. Beth’s Best Moments  - The Wake’s 10th Anniversary Show...
